Liza is the 4th generation President and CEO of Carter Myers Automotive (CMA). In 2003, she joined Carter Myers Automotive after 6 years with American Honda Motor Company. CMA has grown in the past 15 years from 3 dealerships to now include 15 dealerships in 5 cities representing 17 new car franchises.
CMA is not only a family owned business but also employee-owned through a unique Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The company is comprised of 675 associates and dealerships in 5 markets: CMA’s Colonial Chevrolet, CMA’s Colonial Honda, CMA’s Colonial Hyundai, CMA’s Colonial Subaru, and CMA’s Colonial Kia in Richmond; CMA’s Colonial Auto Center, CMA’s Colonial Nissan and CMA’s Volvo Cars of Charlottesville in Charlottesville; CMA’s Valley Honda, CMA’s Valley VW, CMA’s Valley Nissan, CMA’s Valley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and CMA’s Valley Subaru in Staunton; CMA’s Skyline Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Woodstock; CMA’s Williamsburg Ford in Williamsburg, VA.
Liza is the Immediate Past Chair of the Board of Directors for United Way Thomas Jefferson Area, the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia and is a co-founder of Women United, a collective giving organization founded in 2005 that has raised over a half million dollars for local non-profits serving women and children in our community. Liza is also on the Virginia Auto Dealers Association Board of Directors and was appointed by the Governor as a member of the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board. She is involved in many of the manufacturer-dealer advisory boards and sits on the National Product committee for both Nissan and Volvo.
Her community service awards include Ford’s 2009 Salute to Dealers Award, the 2011 Athena Leadership Award, Charlottesville Woman’s 4 Under 40 award and Automotive News “Top 40 Industry Leaders under 40” for 2013. She and her father accepted the Hovey S. Dabney Corporate Citizenship award on behalf of Carter Myers Automotive in 2013. In 2016, 2017 and 2018, CMA was named a Top Workplace in the Richmond area and this year, Liza, was also honored with the Top Leadership Award in Richmond by the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Liza and her husband, Pete, live in Charlottesville with their two children, Parker (age 10) and Taylor (age 13).
